Our Review of the Croozer Cargo Trailer

Cycling aficionados and touring types - the kind that enjoy long trips to the park or beach for picnics and parties - need a tough and stable cargo trailer to haul all the necessary supplies like food, drinks, tents, blankets, baskets . . . and maybe a corkscrew and candles. With precious perishable cargo like beer or bratwurst, the key to a good bicycle cargo trailer is stability and security, and you get both in abundance with the low-profile Croozer Cargo carrier.

The Croozer Cargo bicycle trailer is a two wheeled cargo hauler with 30.5" x 19.5" of 17" deep storage space and a 65 lbs. weight capacity.  Instead of simply a wide-open cargo carrier, the Croozer Cargo comes with a removable weather cover that will keep the contents completely dry even in inclement weather. Built on a steel frame with a solid plastic floor, the Croozer Cargo has a low profile and 16" wheels that provide plenty of stability and prevent your goodies from getting all shook up while you pedal to your destination. Once there, the hitch handle that attaches the Croozer Cargo to your bicycle can angle upward, transforming it into a handcart. This feature is great when taking those final steps to your picnic area or campsite, because you won't have to tilt the trailer and spill the casserole all over your picnic blanket.

The Croozer Cargo folds flat in seconds for easy storage.

Croozer also offers a larger but open framed cargo trailer called the Croozer Travel Trailer. The Travel Trailer has an even lower profile, no weather cover, and can support up to 100lbs. in cargo.

Across the Balkans

I hitched this trailer to my bike and carried it across the Greece, Bosnia and Croatia. I stuffed it to above it limits in volume and carried 100 lbs in it (half again its reported capacity). I used it 600 miles. While it did break at that point, I could still ride it another 25 miles to my campsite. I see no reason why using it within the manufacturer's limits (which I in no way did), you would ever have a problem with it.

Local Handyman

I work in the yard and make a little money doing odd jobs for friends. I use my Croozer to carry supplies. The hitch was easy to install on the rear wheel. The trailer arm connects easily to the bike and is very secure. I disconnect the trailer and flip up the handle and use the trailer as my shopping cart. The trailer tracks extremely well. I ride in the city and I am able to ride very close to the curb on uneven pavement. The trailer does not sway or move side to side even when overloaded. The removable cover and canvas side walls make this trailer extremely versatile. I added bright flashing LEDs for better visibility. The trailer is easy to stowe away and assemble as needed.

The Croozer ROCKS!!

Reviewer: Joshua Brock , Boulder, CO Date: April 01, 2008
Like most folks here, I researched a couple brands before deciding on the Croozer (Burley, Yakima, etc.). I was torn between either the Nomad and the Croozer...or getting any of the Burley kids carriers and converting it for the time being. I have been totally pleased with the Croozer. After ditching the car last November, we've used it for groceries, errands, recycling trips...all of it. It handles great. We needed the extra space and it distributes it well. Putting it together was so easy...and hookup/unhooking is a snap. The folks here at BicycleTrailers.com are also to be commended. Great features on this site, Customer Service helped in my decision making process, the others' reviews were so helpful. It shipped and arrived just as promised...INCREDIBLE service. Thank you! You won't be disappointed with this trailer!

A Sleeper

We bought the Croozer in March of '07. At first I thought the trailer was a bit heavy but on the first trip I almost forgot it was behind me. It tracks straight empty or loaded. We have used the trailer every week to carry groceries for a family of three. This trailer was well worth the price. Through the summer it carried paint, garden supplies, pet's to the vet. The money saved by not using our car, paid for the trailer in four months. There were no mechanical breakdowns or failures. Excellent purchase.

Cargo Croozer

I am avid cyclist and I have this trailer about 3 years, using for shopping , sometimes for long distance touring when I need to carry bulky and heavy photo and birding equipment . I towed my cargo Croozer behind hybrid bike , road bike , touring bike and MTB on asphalt , dirty roads , more then 5000 miles , it is not featherweight trailer but it is strong and convenient trailer if you have bulky cargo like tripod and so on . This trailer in big rain do not hold all your cargo perfectly dry , so pack nicely and use plastic bags . Croozer bicycle trailer co op with all kinds of roads more then well even on road ridges and uneven shoulders when properly loaded , the handling is just perfect on fast descents , ( I talking 40 miles per hour and 80 pounds of cargo on it ) . I do sometimes overload this amazing trailer when on long trip . Ride quality is really good , this trailer like fast hard packed road . Even small potholes take well , no rattles , no fishtailing , it do not take you out of balance haw predictable this trailer is . Hitching and unhitching is fast and simple , storing or prepare the trailer for cargo is easy , take me no more then 3 minutes . I did change tires - now I using Schwab but I did install liners anyway to avoid punctures , rims and spokes hold well after so many miles , I let wheels hubs serviced in bike shop after 3 years of use and bike mechanic say that wheels are good for another 4000 miles . Sun and weather has change color on fabric but not so much . I do recommend this trailer . Definitely good deal for the money and you will carry all kind of cargo comfortable in it for years to came . Croozer cargo is also good for groceries shopping , you just lock the bike release the pin and take it with you .....

Heavy but great!

Reviewer: R. Scott , Whiehall, NY Date: July 29, 2007
I chose this trailer for all-around in town and touring use. At 25 pounds, it's certainly heavy, but its full sides and rain cover make it extremely convenient to use. You can pack your gear and clothes in lightweight plastic grocery bags inside with no need for heavy dry bags, etc.. I just returned from a 400-mile touring trip with it and have no complaints at all. I was very impressed with its handling manners. You can hardly tell it's back there, even when there are pavement ridges or uneven shoulders. The hitch attachment is as simple as it could be and silent; no squeaks or rattles. It appears that Croozer could have made this trailer a bit lighter, which would be nice. But if you have a triple and are a reasonably strong rider, you won't have any difficulties hauling a comfortable touring kit. After using it for touring for the first time, I wished I had brought additional items along. I was worried about the trailer's weight so I packed light. It turns out pulling my gear in hilly VT and upstate NY was no trouble at all and I could have brought more gear with me.
